JW Middle Schoolers vs Non JW Middle Schoolers - what was your middle/high school experience?
by Julia Orwell ini'm a secondary school teacher and i've spent a lot of time at school this year since i've left jws simply observing student dynamics.
i do a lot of playground duty and have the opportunity to observe the kids at play and in the classroom.
i've especially had the opportunity to observe middle school kids, that is, kids between 12 and 15 in my state.. my observations of these 'worldly' children are:.

Middle school was absolute hell for me. I was teased and picked on and harassed walking home by others. Of course it didn't help that I was rather chubby and we were extremely poor so my clothing was pretty dire. I wanted to fit in but knew that I wouldn't be able to. I kept quiet mostly. High school was a bit better. I put my foot down and demanded that I be allowed to join the drama club. Performing was my happiness. I refused to join the ministerial school and give "talks" though. Got some flack for that. I wanted to barf every time there was a "talk." -

My experience with a Judicial Committee, when in my early 20's
by Dunedain ini joined this wonderful site, only a few weeks ago, although i have been away from the borg, for almost 20 years.
i didnt introduce myself, on a personal level, but i jumped right in, commenting, making threads, and just immersing myself in this community.
what a time, indeed, to be here, its almost as if i was "called" here, because the week i lurked, and joined, was when all this recent stuff came out.

Ooo...Mmm...Ggg premonitory dream. Can't believe it
by Tempest in a Teacup inso, the whole weekend i spent it dozing on and off.
this morning, before waking up, i had a dream.
i was passing by a building in france (i don't live in europe) and then i recognized a certain building as the one where one of my friends who lives in that country lives.

I actually had a dream the night before Princess Diana and Dodi died. I was living in the UK at the time. It was a Saturday night, into Sunday morning. I woke up early on Sunday and told me ex-husband at the time that I felt really heavy and sad...that I had a dream that a blonde haired woman and a dark haired man were dead..in a bathtub. It was a horrific scene.
My young son came into the room, so I went downstairs to make him breakfast. I turned the Cartoon Network on for him and a buzzing message came through to to turn to a news station. They had announced the death of Diana and Dodi. My ex-husband gave me that you're probably crazy look.
So I do believe that you can have dreams that turn out to be reality. I've had several since then, although none as huge as the Diana dream.

Headbands were quite fashionable then....think Olivia Newton John! The one guy in the middle looks like he's try to eat the other person's hair or something. -

Cognitive Dissonance
by LexIsFree inthe cognitive dissonance amongst jws has never been more obvious to me then what i just experience in the last 5 min.
long story short i had a phone conversation w/my mom about some things and i mentioned to her to look up what has been going on with their beloved organization in australia.
brother geoffrey jackson of the holy governing body was caught lying numerous times about several subjects including disassociations & shunning.

Got it here too...my mother handed me the brochure to read, and when I said I would read it if she listened to me about what is going on in Australia, she shut me down. I find it very interesting that they're so eager to push they're beliefs on you but when you counter, they just go into bean bag mode. -

Anyone seen this new "Bad Association" video at the Convention yet?
by WingCommander ini read on another thread (on another forum) where someone mentioned a truly guilt-inducing, cringe-worthy, "bad association" video that was played at this summers rc's.
here is how that person described it:.
"the video about "bad association" was really weird.

This is so disturbing to me. I was a born-in years ago and I thought that was bad. But this just takes it to a whole new level. That poor girl WASN'T doing anything wrong. Just hanging out with friends. These scare tactics should be child abuse. What did that speaker say?? Teens fall into the "snare and fear?" -

Why is the GB so concerned with the well-being of the accused in matters of sexual abuse?
by paradisebeauty ini'm reading some documents from the royal commission and i don't get it, why so much concern for the accused and his reputation???
i'm starting to think maybe some gb members have things like this in their past, because a normal human being would not take the side of a sexual predator over a child....united states branche x e c u t i v e o f f i c e sto watch tower societyaustraliagsc/as january 21, 1999 no.
176sit is understood that if the law requires elders to report cases of child abuse, they should complywith the law and do so.

I am searching too....for every 100 emails I get, maybe two are worth a response. Seriously, who doesn't like walks on the beach, sunsets and a fireplace? Yes, you love your kids. I get that. But most of the profiles I look at put me right to sleep. One person had a 12 paragraph essay on the brain disorder he has. Another one went on and on about his alcoholic ex-wife and their divorce. One man posted about 13 pictures of food. Yes, food. And a watermelon. The list goes on...anyway, I am thinking about writing a book about my experiences about this very subject. Also, I'm still single so if you have any friends.... :)
